Two QCMA-complete problems

چکیده
QMA and QCMA are possible quantum analogues of the complexity class NP. In QCMA the verifier is a quantum program and the proof is classical. In contrast, in QMA the proof is also a quantum state. We show that two known QMA-complete problems can be modified to QCMAcomplete problems in a natural way: (1) Deciding whether a 3-local Hamiltonian has low energy states (with energy smaller than a given value) that can be prepared with at most k elementary gates is QCMA-complete, whereas it is QMA-complete when the restriction on the complexity of preparation is dropped. (2) Deciding whether a (classically described) quantum circuit acts almost as the identity on all basis states is QCMA-complete. It is QMA-complete to decide whether it acts on all states almost as the identity.

QCMA with one-sided error equals QCMA with two-sided error
QCMA is the set of decision problems such that if the answer is yes, there exists a classical bit string, or proof, that can be efficiently verified by a quantum computer. The verifier is allowed a small probability of rejecting a valid proof or accepting invalid proofs. We show that for all problems in QCMA, the acceptance probability for valid proofs can be amplified to one, thus QCMA with on...
متن کاملBehavior of O(log n) local commuting hamiltonians
We study the variant of the k-local hamiltonian problem which is a natural generalization of k-CSPs, in which the hamiltonian terms all commute. More specifically, we consider a hamiltonian H = ∑i Hi over n qubits, where each Hi acts non-trivially on O(log n) qubits and all the terms Hi commute, and show the following 1. We show that a specific case of O(log n) local commuting hamiltonians over...
متن کاملQCMA hardness of ground space connectivity for commuting Hamiltonians
In this work we consider the ground space connectivity problem for commuting local Hamiltonians. The ground space connectivity problem asks whether it is possible to go from one (efficiently preparable) state to another by applying a polynomial length sequence of 2-qubit unitaries while remaining at all times in a state with low energy for a given Hamiltonian H. It was shown in [GS15] that this...
متن کاملExponential Quantum-Classical Gaps in Multiparty Nondeterministic Communication Complexity
There are three different types of nondeterminism in quantum communication: i) NQP-communication, ii) QMA-communication, and iii) QCMA-communication. In this paper we show that multiparty NQP-communication can be exponentially stronger than QCMA-communication. This also implies an exponential separation with respect to classical multiparty nondeterministic communication complexity. We argue tha...
متن کاملQuantum vs Classical Proofs and Subset Verification
We study the ability of efficient quantum verifiers to decide properties of exponentially large subsets given either a classical or quantum witness. We develop a general framework that can be used to prove that QCMA machines, with only classical witnesses, cannot verify certain properties of subsets given implicitly via an oracle. We use this framework to prove an oracle separation between QCMA...
